AI calorie tracker · Indian food
An AI calorie tracker that actually knows Indian food.
Most calorie trackers were built on Western databases and treat dal, dosa, and a full thali as approximations. Nourished is an AI calorie tracker for Indian food from the ground up: type what you ate — “2 roti, dal makhani, thoda ghee”, Hinglish welcome — and it returns each dish on its own editable line, with cooked, as-served numbers from published Indian recipe data and its confidence shown per item.

The problem
Why generic calorie apps get Indian food wrong.
Dosa is not a crepe
Western-first databases match your food to the closest string, not the closest dish. A dosa becomes a crepe, dal becomes lentil soup, and the macros come from a different kitchen entirely.
Nobody eats 100 grams
Apps default every portion to a round 100 g. A roti is 36 g. A katori of dal is about 150 g. A biryani plate is 250 g or more. Wrong units mean confidently wrong calories.
A thali is six dishes, not one blob
Point a generic scanner at a thali and you get “Indian meal, 800 kcal” — one number you can’t question, edit, or learn from. That’s not tracking, it’s theater.
We documented all five failure modes while building our database — read the full breakdown.
The fix
Built for the food you actually eat.
An Indian database at the core
Nourished matches against 854 Indian dishes computed from published recipe data — cooked, as-served values with real household servings. Chitranna, pulihora and thayir saadam are first-class citizens, not approximations.
Log in one typed line, Hinglish welcome
“2 roti, dal makhani, thoda ghee” is a complete log. The AI splits it into line items with per-item confidence — no forms, no searching a database menu by hand.
Every estimate is editable
You get a draft, never a verdict: each item on its own line with the portion in katoris, pieces, or grams. Fix anything in a tap and the calories recompute instantly on your device.
It’s a journal, not just a counter
Meals, mood, and movement live in one daily timeline, so over time you see how the food connects to your energy. The tracker is the engine; the journal is the point.

FAQ
Questions people ask.
How accurate is Nourished on Indian food?
More honest than any single number can be. Values come from published, peer-reviewed Indian recipe data (the Indian Nutrient Databank) on a cooked, as-served basis, with real household serving weights — and the app shows its confidence per item and lets you edit anything. When it is unsure, it says so.
Does it handle home-cooked food, thalis, and regional dishes?
Yes — that is the whole point. Dal by the katori, roti by the piece, a thali split into separate editable lines, and regional names recognized directly. The database was built for Indian home cooking, not adapted to it.
Can I type in Hinglish?
Yes. “dal chawal, thoda ghee, feeling sluggish” parses fine. Type it the way you would text a friend.
Is it free?
Your first 20 meals are free — the whole app, no card. After that, Nourished+ keeps the logging going. Your journal stays yours to read, edit, and export either way. Nourished is in early access right now: leave your email below and you’ll be first in.
